MAMKA’S POP UP STORE IN RECORD STORE RAVE UP

SATURDAY, 22.03.2025 / 16:00 – 19:00 / RAVE UP VIENNA

What’s in store? The Slang Word Game fits well for this occasion.

What you can expect is a cozy “living room” listening session with records that have been released on the label. I’ll be sharing little anecdotes about the creation and content of these productions. Afterwards, I’ll talk to Rave up about the challenges and experiences of running a record store in today’s world. We will then venture into the store blindfolded to randomly select some records and let be surprised by some unknown music. This will be followed by an interview with Stefan Voglsinger about the creation of his new work Transceiver, which was released on Mamka in 2024. Finally, we will also play a live version of Transceiver for you.
I’m really looking forward to trying out this concept and of course, we look forward to seeing you. Maja for Mamka Records and Rayna for the Rave up Store

Infos:

MAMKA RECORDS is a Viennese label founded out of a longing for a place where every production is seen and celebrated as a unique and independent work of art. Small and refined, the label is home to a wide variety of formats, away from predetermined norms and technical standards. At the interface between contemporary experimental music, visual art, literature, handmade electronics and great attention to detail, MAMKA symbolizes daring, confrontation, benevolent radicalism and the self-evidence of the unique. Here, editions of gems are created which, contrary to contemporary trends, are characterized by loving craftsmanship and dedication. MAMKA practices deceleration, draws attention to creative processes and the charm of absolute unrepeatability.

TRANSCEIVER (STEFAN VOGLSINGER) is a quadraphonic piece for two turntables by Stefan Voglsinger. The four-channel composition becomes audible when the needles of two turntables facing each other are put on at the same time. As an instrument, Transceiver invites collective listening and experimentation. By combining different speeds, lifting and repositioning the needles, playing backwards and using different playback devices, new facets and combinations of the composition are constantly being created. Each cover of the limited 12” edition is hand-printed, cut, stamped and individually bound using various printing and transfer techniques. The artwork on the gatefold cover shows the resonator drum and outlines of transparent, monochrome circuits. A rough-cut hole on the back of the record reveals the uniquely colored, linoleum-printed labels, each matching the acetone-transferred inlay artwork.

RAVE UP ist ein independant Shop for All Styles!
